Victory over addiction is not a guarantee. Victory from addiction is an ongoing recovery process and only comes after a complete change of the addicts psyche. Taking the time to replace all those old behaviors with new behaviors takes more time than what the standard 30 day recovery centers provide. At times (especially in the beginning) the addict will go through very difficult decision making processes and will constantly be battling there own inner demons. Its much like the visual portrayal of an angel on one shoulder and a demon on the other. Making good decisions, though difficult and sometimes painful, consistently over a period of time eventually become a natural behavior. A house manager that is in recovery and is constantly checking in with the residents on what they are up to, helps to guide the addict new in recovery onto a path of victory over drugs and alcohol.

Rarely, if ever, are things given you you. Victory over addiction is no exception. By going through all the steps outlined in a 12 step program of recovery and following suggestions that others have recommended, one learns to live life by a different set of rules. But you have to do the work. Its not an easy process, but it is simple! Moving into a house where you dont know anyone and probably in a town that is unfamiliar to you can be a difficult decision. Think of it more like moving into a sober living home so you can be surrounded by others that are on the same journey. A team of support if you will. The decision will likely lead you to GREATNESS!
